This trip into the hill tribes of Thailand will take you from busy Chiang Mai up river to quieter Chiang Rai, over to the famous Golden Triangle and back down to Chiang Mai again. Along the way you will visit Hmong, Lisu, Akha and Lahu villages, meet craftspeople, wander fascinating markets, and dine on spicy, but delicious Thai Food.

Your host will be Don Wilcox - writer, poet, humanitarian, teacher, activist, and a very special person. In the fall, he and his wife, Susan, will take you to see his favorite festival, Loi Krathong, the festival of lights.

Day 1	Arrive in Chiang Mai and transfer to hotel D
Day 2	Tour Chiang Mai B
Day 3	Stop at a Long Neck Karen village, Long-eared Lahu minority village, and an Akha village on the way to Doi Mae Salong B
Day 4	Visit a mushroom farm and a tea plantation, as well as a Yao mountainside temple and minority village before crossing over into Myanmar and the Golden Triangle B
Day 5	Tour Mae Kong River Buddha and enjoy a boat ride B
Day 6	Explore Chiang Saen before driving to Chiang Rai B
Day 7	Drive back to Chiang Mai BD
